Packages

1, 2, 3 and 4 Branch Family Tree

Vector Image

The starting point for each package would ideally begin with your grandparents, moving back in time through 3 generations. Choose either 1, 2, 3 or 4 branches of your tree and we will turn those branches into a historical memoire of your family.

Any direct ancestors’ siblings’ names, dates and places of birth will be provided. Further research on any given ancestral sibling, if requested, would incur extra fees.

What you get:

You will be provided with a pedigree family tree containing names, dates and places of birth, marriage and death if known, starting with yourself (or your requested person). You will also receive a concise report of all research and findings, certificates and photographs and references relating to source material.

This will be printed on quality paper and a framing service can be provided if required. A framed family tree makes a precious gift and heirloom for your loved ones.

House History

Have you ever wondered what your house would have been like when it was built? Who lived there before you and how many families with a story to tell? With this package you will find out about who built your house, who lived in it and some details of their lives where possible.

What you get:

This is a bespoke package which will provide you with an interpretation of the deeds to your house, details about previous owners and residents and some details of the surrounding area. You will receive a report containing a timeline of your house’s history, which will show important world and local events relating to the period.

So You Want To Know More About Your Family History?

When discussing family history many people’s initial thoughts may be, “I wouldn’t know where to begin!” I would say to those people, “Begin with yourself! What do you already know?” The thing is you probably know a lot more than you think. Begin by drawing up a

family tree with your immediate family and state as much information about each individual as you can. Unless you were adopted, you are more than likely to know who your parents and grandparents are/were. From here, expand your family tree to include any aunts, uncles and cousins that you know of.

Once you have created this initial family tree, take a step back and look at what you have created. Chances are you have a tree consisting of three, maybe four, generations and

one or more family units.

Where do you go from here? Look at your tree and find your oldest living relative. At this point, this person is the most important in your family tree. They are likely to be a goldmine of information. If they are from an older generation to you they are likely to know generations further back in time and provide stories and photographs regarding these people. Ask as many people from your family tree as you can what they know about older generations and if they have any resources to share.

Once you have carried out these steps, you are likely to have much more information than you ever thought was possible. The next step is up to you. Do you want to know more? Do you want evidence to back up stories, “skeletons in the cupboard,” military history or just to go further back in time? You could carry out the research yourself if you have the time and resources. Alternatively you can call on us here at Acorn to Oak Genealogy Services. Whatever your requirements, we will be only too happy to help. We will ask you to provide as much information as you can and what you would like us to research. We will send you a brief of the work we will carry out and a contract for you to sign. We will then get on with our job, contacting you where necessary.

When our work is done we aim to provide you with a full report,

complete with a family tree and primary sources. Upon receipt, we’re sure you’ll be over the moon and glad that you chose us to enhance the lives of your family and the generations that follow.

ABOUT

I have been interested in genealogy and social history all of my adult life. A family story of love across the classes and disownment, handed down through the family, first sparked my interest. From there I set about building my own family tree and becoming more and more fascinated with every new find. The computer era was only just emerging, so most of my work was carried out on foot and by hand.

My passion spurred me to help family and friends discover their family histories and I also volunteered with a number of institutions helping them on various projects.

Eventually, I decided I wanted to be the genealogist I had always aspired to be and signed myself up for a post graduate certificate in Genealogical, Paleographic and Heraldic Studies with Strathclyde University.

Having become a qualified genealogist, here I am hoping to bring intrigue, joy and happiness to clients near and far. Please get in touch to learn what Acorn to Oak Genealogy Services can do for you.
